Is Instagram enough for nail salons?

For showing the work, Instagram beats any website. For getting found and hired, it does not. In nail salons you want both, and each one does a half the other cannot do.

What Instagram does better than a website

In nail salons people buy with their eyes, and Instagram is unbeatable there: post today, seen today, and anyone already following comes back on their own.

Nobody should close their Instagram to open a website. That trades something that works for something that does a different job.

What Instagram does not do, and that is the expensive part

  • It does not show up in Google. Someone searching your trade and your city does not see your profile. They see websites. That search is the one made by people ready to hire today.
  • It is not yours. If the account gets locked or the reach changes, you lose the whole business and there is nobody to call.
  • It does not state price or area. A profile forces people to message you to ask the basics, and plenty of them will not: they leave.
  • An AI cannot cite it. When someone asks ChatGPT who does this in their city, it answers with pages it can read.

How the two split the work

The simple way to see it: Instagram convinces, the site closes.

Someone who finds you on Instagram and wants to hire you needs to see photos of your own work and a button to book without typing. That does not fit in a profile. It fits on a page.

Which is why the link in your bio should go to your site and not to a bare WhatsApp: the page has everything needed to decide, and the WhatsApp is there too, at the end, with context around it.

When Instagram alone is enough

It is enough if your chair is full of regulars and you are not taking anyone new, or if all your work comes from referrals by clients you already have.

If you are full and the people messaging you already arrive convinced, do not spend. The day you want customers who have never heard of you is the day you need the other half.

What people usually ask

Can I put my Instagram inside the site?

Yes, and you should. Recent photos prove you are working right now, which is exactly what a static page fails to convey.

What if I don't have time for both?

The site does not need feeding every day: it gets built once and keeps working. Instagram does eat time. If you can only manage one, understand you are picking the one that switches off the moment you stop posting.
