The top of Google is for sale. You pay per click, and for home trades in South Florida the price per click runs from a few dollars to quite a bit more.
It is very good for two things: getting started while the slow work of ranking catches up, and covering a short season that decides your year.
What almost always goes wrong is pointing ads at the home page. The ad and the page it lands on have to say the same thing, or you pay for visits that leave without calling.
What to do about it
If you try ads, set a low daily cap and send them to a page that says exactly what the ad promised.
