The free listing that puts your business on the Google map. For a local business it is the first thing to open, before the website.
It is the box on the right when someone searches your business by name, and it is what puts you in the map pack at the top.
Opening it is free and takes twenty minutes. Anyone charging to open it is charging you to fill in a form. What takes real work is keeping it alive: new photos, correct hours, and replying to every review.
If you have no storefront you can open it as a service-area business and hide the address. You declare the area you cover and that is it.
What to do about it
If you do not have one, open it today. It is the only item on this list that costs nothing and pays off this week.
