The situation
4.9 on Google with 67 reviews. She bakes at home, has no storefront open to the public, and posts her email address on every Instagram post. The work is there; what is missing is somewhere to put it.
The problem is not that nobody finds her. It is that the order arrives as a blank email, with no date, no serving count and no idea what it is for. Every order starts with three emails back and forth before she can quote a price.
The decisions
Every call to action on the page is an email to her, and each one arrives with its own subject already set: the cart on the Vintage Heart Cake opens a message headed <em>Order: Vintage Heart Cake</em>, the event banner opens an enquiry with the fields for date and guest count already typed out. There is no server behind it, and there does not need to be: the order lands in the inbox she already checks, sorted by what it is about.
No phone number is published. The number she gave was for talking on WhatsApp, not for putting on a page, and another one going around is not hers. Prices are on the cards, taken from the mock-up: she publishes none, so they are there to be confirmed or removed before she sees the page.
The page is pink because her cakes are. The paper is a warm white, the bands are blush, the product sits on white cards, and one raspberry accent carries the buttons and the second line of the headline. The hero photograph had to be tinted into the pink family: the backdrop of all her pictures is beige, and on a pink field that reads as a rectangle glued on. The wordmark is written the way she letters a cake.
What has to be said when showing it
The cakes in the photographs are hers. They were re-photographed in studio light from her own Instagram pictures, keeping each cake exactly as she made it, and the last strip on the page is her original photos, straight from her kitchen. What is hers and untouched: her three named reviews, her 4.9 on Google and her Jamaican fruit cake line.
