SEO for roofers, with the real search numbers
SEO for roofers means showing up for free when a homeowner near you searches for a roofer, a repair or a replacement: in the map at the top of Google and in the websites below it. Roofing jobs are big, so the clicks are expensive. Advertisers pay about $41 on average for one click on "roof repair" in the US and about $47 for "storm damage roof repair". The map depends on your Google Business Profile and your reviews. The rest depends on a page that shows your license, your work by roof type and how you handle insurance.

Two things stand out. The "near me" searches are huge, and Google answers them with the map. And the searches by problem and roof type (leak repair, flat roof, tile, metal, shingle) add up to a lot, with lower difficulty scores in our data. A roofer whose page names each roof type can show up for each one.
Step 1: the Google Business Profile
- Primary category: "Roofing contractor". Add real secondary ones, like "Roofing supply store" only if you actually sell materials.
- Service areas, with the address hidden if you go to the customer. See how to set your service area.
- Services by name: roof repair, roof replacement, roof inspection, leak repair, and each roof type you install.
- Photos of finished roofs, with the material and the city.
- Reviews after every job, ideally naming the roof type and the city. How to ask is in getting Google reviews.
Step 2: a page that answers what homeowners check
- Your license as text, near the top. In Florida it's the CCC license; see the Florida roofing license.
- Your work organized by roof type: tile, metal, shingle, flat. A homeowner choosing metal wants to see metal roofs.
- A section per service with the searched words: roof repair, roof leak repair, roof replacement, roof inspection.
- How you work with insurance after a storm, in plain words. "Storm damage roof repair" is searched most right after a storm, which is exactly when people are deciding.
- Financing, if you offer it, next to replacements.
- Phone at the top, dialing when tapped.
We reviewed six real roofing websites in Miami in the best roofing websites. Three write out the license, three offer financing, and none shows before and after photos by roof type or explains the insurance claim.
Step 3: pages by roof type and city, when you can fill them
A page for each roof type you install is the natural next step: tile roof repair, metal roof installation, flat roof repair. Each has its own searches and each lets you show real jobs. City pages work when they say something true about that place, like the common roof types, local code or jobs you've done there.
Step 4: after a storm
Storm searches spike in days. The work that pays then is done before: a page that explains storm damage and insurance, a profile with true hours, and reviews already in place. After a storm, post photos of the jobs you're doing and keep the profile hours honest.
Step 5: listings and links
Keep your name, phone and address the same on Google, Bing, Apple Maps, BBB, Nextdoor and Angi. Useful links come from manufacturers if you're a certified installer, suppliers, local realtors and insurance agents you work with.
What not to pay for
- Anyone promising first place on Google.
- Monthly SEO on top of a page with no license, no roof types and no photos. Fix the page first.
- Fake reviews. They get removed and can get the profile suspended.
If you'd rather not do the monthly part yourself, our local SEO plan keeps your Google profile current and adds something new to your site every month, for $59 a month with no contract. That's less than two clicks on "roof repair".
doubts
What people usually ask
What is roofing SEO?
It's what makes a roofer show up in Google without paying per click: a complete Google Business Profile, steady reviews, a website that shows the license and names each service and roof type, and a few real local links.
How long does roofing SEO take?
The profile can bring calls within weeks if the category and reviews are right. A new page takes months to rank, longer on a new domain.
Is SEO or Google Ads better for roofers?
Ads bring calls today at around $25 to $47 per click on the main searches. SEO takes months and then keeps working without paying per click. With jobs worth thousands, most roofers who grow use both.
Should I explain insurance claims on my website?
Yes. It's the question most homeowners have after a storm, and none of the six Miami roofing sites we reviewed explains it. A short, honest section is an easy way to stand out.
