No website, by trade
Share of Google Business Profiles with no website listed, home services only.
| Trade | Profiles | No website listed |
|---|---|---|
| Landscaping | 2,913 | 15.1% |
| Flooring | 3,172 | 14.6% |
| HVAC | 3,842 | 13.6% |
| Remodeling | 3,284 | 12.4% |
| Plumbing | 3,639 | 11.1% |
| Roofing | 4,033 | 8.9% |
| All home services | 20,883 | 12.4% |
Roofers are the most likely to have a site, which matches how the trade sells: one job is worth thousands of dollars and homeowners compare companies before calling. Landscaping and flooring are the least likely.

Miami-Dade against the rest of Florida
Home service businesses only. Cities with at least 100 profiles in our data.
| City | Profiles | No website listed |
|---|---|---|
| Opa-locka | 140 | 28.6% |
| Homestead | 145 | 28.3% |
| Kendall | 128 | 21.9% |
| Hialeah | 262 | 19.8% |
| Miami Gardens | 111 | 19.8% |
| Kissimmee | 174 | 17.2% |
| Doral | 182 | 15.4% |
| Miami | 216 | 11.6% |
| Tampa | 299 | 9.4% |
| Orlando | 269 | 8.9% |
| Jacksonville | 299 | 8.7% |
| Fort Myers | 263 | 6.5% |
The cities at the top of the list are among the most Spanish-speaking in Florida. The next section suggests that is not a coincidence.
Spanish-language searches
We ran the same trades twice: once with English search terms (roofing, plumbing) and once with Spanish ones (techos, plomería). Spanish searches bring up a different set of businesses, many of them run by Spanish speakers.
| State | English searches | Spanish searches |
|---|---|---|
| Florida | 6.4% (471 profiles) | 13.9% (3,150) |
| Texas | 3.8% (158) | 18.1% (2,618) |
| California | 11.4% (175) | 17.4% (2,613) |
Share with no website listed. The English samples in these three states are small, so read the gap as a direction, not an exact figure. By trade, the gap is largest in landscaping (10.6% English against 20.3% Spanish) and flooring (10.3% against 19.3%). In plumbing there is no gap at all (11.2% against 11.0%).
Reviews and websites
All 71,066 profiles. Share with no website listed, by number of Google reviews.
| Google reviews | Profiles | No website listed |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 9 | 4,007 | 52.2% |
| 10 to 49 | 12,435 | 36.5% |
| 50 to 199 | 18,841 | 26.3% |
| 200 or more | 13,958 | 13.2% |
Businesses with a website have a median of 113 reviews. Those without one have a median of 51. Their average star rating is almost identical (4.78 against 4.76). This does not prove that a website brings reviews: older and bigger businesses tend to have both. It does show that the businesses with the most visible reputation on Google are also the ones that have a website.
The websites that are listed
We checked a random sample of 1,500 home service websites taken from the profiles.
| Result | Sites | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Works | 1,209 | 80.6% |
| Blocked our check (security filter) | 199 | 13.3% |
| Domain no longer exists | 33 | 2.2% |
| Returns an error page (4xx or 5xx) | 24 | 1.6% |
| No answer in 12 seconds | 35 | 2.3% |
So at least 3.8% of the websites printed on these Google profiles lead nowhere. A customer who taps "Website" on Google lands on an error and goes back to the next result. Of the 1,209 sites that worked, 174 (14.4%) load without HTTPS, which Chrome and Safari label "Not secure" next to the address.
488 of the 18,284 home service profiles with a website point to a franchise's main site (Mr. Rooter, Aire Serv, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and others) instead of a page for that location.
Method
- Source: Google Business Profiles returned by the Google Places API for searches of the form "[trade] in [city]", run in August and September 2026. 71,066 profiles in 45 states; 20,883 home service profiles in 174 cities and 40 states.
- "No website listed" means the profile's website field is empty, or points to a booking page or a social profile instead of a site. It is what the owner put on Google, not proof that no site exists. In earlier checks we found that some businesses with an empty field do have a site they never added to Google.
- Not a census. Google returns the businesses it ranks for each search, which leans toward established businesses. The true share without a website is probably higher than what we report, not lower.
- Website check: a plain request to each site's home page with a 12-second limit, in October 2026. Sites that blocked the request are counted separately, not as broken.
- Spanish and English searches were run in different mixes of states, which is why the comparison above is shown within the same state.
