HVAC marketing: where the calls come from
An HVAC company gets its calls from a few places: the Google map, customers on a maintenance plan, past customers whose system is aging, people who work with homes every day, and paid ads or lead sites. The first four cost little once they're set up. Ads cost a lot in this trade: an average click on "emergency ac repair" costs advertisers about $79 in the US, and "ac repair near me" about $47 (Google Ads data, September 2026). The order that works is to build the free channels in the slow season and use paid ones to fill gaps.

1. The Google map
"AC repair near me" gets about 201,000 searches a month in the US and "hvac near me" about 165,000. Google answers them with the map. The profile is free; what decides who shows up is distance, how well the profile matches the search, and reviews. The setup for HVAC companies, step by step, is in HVAC SEO.
2. Reviews, asked for at the right moment
The best moment to ask is when the house starts cooling again. Ask in person and send the link by text before you leave. A review that names the service and the neighborhood ("replaced our unit in Doral in one day") helps more than "great service".
3. Maintenance plans
A maintenance plan is marketing that pays every year. The customer on a plan calls you first when something fails, doesn't shop around, and usually buys the next system from you. Put the plan on your page with its price, offer it at the end of every repair, and send a reminder before each visit.
"Hvac maintenance plan" gets about 3,600 searches a month in the US. Few companies show the plan on their homepage: none of the five Miami HVAC sites we reviewed in the best HVAC websites does.
4. A website that serves both customers
The person whose AC died today needs your phone and "same-day service" at the top. The person replacing a system needs brands, financing, a rough price and a separate way to ask for an estimate. A page that does both is the difference between a repair call and a $10,000 install.
5. Customers with aging systems
Keep a list of every system you've serviced: address, brand, age. A unit reaching 12 or 15 years is a replacement coming. A message before it fails, during the slow season, is a sale that no competitor sees coming.
6. People who work with homes
- Realtors need inspections and repairs before closing, and new owners need someone to call.
- Property managers have dozens of units and pay for someone who shows up.
- Builders and remodelers need HVAC subcontractors.
- Home inspectors see failing systems every week.
7. Paid: Google Ads, Local Services Ads and lead sites
| Search | Average cost per click |
|---|---|
| emergency ac repair | $79.30 |
| ac repair near me | $46.82 |
| ac repair | $46.46 |
| hvac companies near me | $29.68 |
| ac installation | $25.43 |
Not every click calls and not every call books, so the cost per job is several times the click. Local Services Ads charge per lead and show the Google Guaranteed badge. Lead sites sell the same request to several companies. Use them to fill the calendar in the busy season while the free channels grow. More in how to stop buying leads.
The order to set it up
- Google profile complete, with the right category and true hours.
- A review request after every job, starting this week.
- A page that separates repair, installation and maintenance, with the plan's price.
- A list of every system you service, with its age.
- Visits to two realtors, two property managers and one home inspector.
- Ads only for the gaps, with a budget you can measure.
If you'd rather have someone keep steps 1 and 3 working every month, that's our local SEO plan: $59 a month, no contract.
doubts
What people usually ask
What is the best marketing for HVAC companies?
The Google map and reviews for the emergency, and maintenance plans for the income that repeats. After that, replacement offers to customers with aging systems, and referrals from realtors and property managers.
When should an HVAC company market itself?
Build in the slow season: pages, reviews, reminders to plan customers. In the busy season the calls come anyway; what decides the year is how many of them become plan customers and future installs.
Do Local Services Ads work for HVAC?
They can, because you pay per lead and the Google Guaranteed badge builds trust. They still cost per call, so they work best alongside a strong free profile.
