SEO for HVAC companies, with the real search numbers

SEO for an HVAC company means showing up for free when someone near you searches for AC repair, a new system or a tune-up: in the map at the top of Google and in the websites below it. It pays more in HVAC than in most trades because the clicks are expensive. Advertisers pay about $79 on average for one click on "emergency ac repair" in the US and about $47 for "ac repair near me". The map depends on your Google Business Profile and your reviews. The rest depends on a page that separates the emergency from the replacement and names every service the way it's searched.

What customers search, and what each click costs

ac repair near me 201,000 $46.82
furnace repair 201,000 $28.38
hvac near me 165,000 $28.69
hvac companies near me 110,000 $29.68
duct cleaning 90,500 $24.41
ac installation 49,500 $25.43
heat pump installation 22,200 $24.21
mini split installation 18,100 $17.54
emergency ac repair 14,800 $79.30
ac not cooling 6,600 $15.61
new ac unit cost 5,400 $11.32
hvac maintenance plan 3,600 $15.20
ac repair miami 1,900 $27.69

Three kinds of search are mixed in that table. Repairs ("ac repair", "emergency ac repair") come from someone who needs you today. Installations ("heat pump installation", "mini split installation", "new ac unit cost") come from someone comparing companies for a big purchase. And maintenance ("hvac maintenance plan") comes from the customer who pays every year. A page that treats all three the same serves none of them well.

Step 1: the Google Business Profile

"Near me" searches are answered by the map, and the map is decided by distance, how well your profile matches the search, and reviews.

  • Primary category: "HVAC contractor" or "Air conditioning contractor", whichever matches most of your work. Add real secondary ones like "Air conditioning repair service" or "Heating contractor".
  • Service areas, with the address hidden if you go to the customer. See how to set your service area.
  • Services one by one: AC repair, AC installation, heat pumps, mini splits, duct cleaning, maintenance plans.
  • Hours that are true, especially if you take emergency calls in summer.
  • Photos of installs, with the brand and the city in the description.
  • Reviews after every job, ideally naming the service and the neighborhood. How to ask is in getting Google reviews.

Step 2: a page that separates the emergency from the purchase

  • Phone at the top, dialing when tapped, with "same-day service" if it's true.
  • Your license as text. In Florida it's the CAC license; see the Florida HVAC license.
  • A section per service, with the searched words in the heading: AC repair, AC installation, heat pump installation, mini split installation, duct cleaning.
  • A separate way to ask for a new-system estimate. Someone about to spend thousands and someone who needs a capacitor shouldn't fill in the same form.
  • The brands you install, by name. People search for them.
  • Financing, if you offer it, next to the installation section.
  • A maintenance plan with its price, near the top.

We reviewed five real HVAC websites in Miami in the best HVAC websites. Three publish their license, three offer financing, and none sells a maintenance plan on the home page.

Step 3: pages by service and city, when you can fill them

Installations are the best candidates for their own pages because each job is worth thousands and the searches are specific: heat pumps, mini splits, full system replacement. City pages work when they say something real about that place, like the kind of homes, the usual systems or jobs you've done there.

Step 4: timing

HVAC searches follow the weather. The time to build pages and ask for reviews is the slow season, so they're already working when the first heat wave or cold snap hits. A page published the week everyone's AC fails is too late for that week.

What not to pay for

  • Anyone promising first place on Google.
  • Monthly SEO on top of a page that mixes repair, install and maintenance into one list. Fix the page first.
  • Fake reviews. They get removed and can get the profile suspended.

If you'd rather not do the monthly part yourself, our local SEO plan keeps your Google profile current and adds something new to your site every month, for $59 a month with no contract. That's less than two clicks on "emergency ac repair".

What people usually ask

What is HVAC SEO?

It's what makes an HVAC company show up in Google without paying per click: a complete Google Business Profile, steady reviews, a website that names each service and city, and a few real local links.

How long does HVAC SEO take?

The profile can bring calls within weeks if the category and reviews are right. A new page takes months to rank. Start before your busy season, not during it.

Is SEO or Google Ads better for HVAC?

Ads bring calls today and charge each time, around $47 to $79 per click for the main repair searches. SEO takes months and then keeps working without a per-click cost. Most companies that grow use both and lean less on ads over time.

Should maintenance plans be on the website?

Yes, with a price and near the top. It's the steadiest income in the trade, and the maintenance customer is usually the one who buys the next system from you.
