How many jobs do you need a month?

A revenue goal cannot be chased: it has to be turned into calls. This does that conversion and leaves you a number you can actually check every week.

What it takes to get there

If you do not know your close rate, count your last ten quotes and how many turned into work. That is enough to start.

A dollar goal cannot be chased

'I want twelve thousand a month' says nothing about what to do Monday morning. 'I need thirty jobs, so seventy-five quotes, so a hundred and twenty-five contacts' does.

That last number is the only one you can check weekly to know whether you are on track before the month is over.

Where the bottleneck usually sits

If it takes more contacts than you get today, that is a visibility problem and it gets fixed by bringing people in: reviews, a current Google listing, a site, ads.

If contacts arrive but the close rate is low, bringing more people in just means losing more quotes. What needs fixing there is how you quote and how fast you answer.

Raising the price moves these numbers more than anything

Watch what happens above when you raise the job price by twenty percent: it takes considerably fewer jobs for the same revenue, and that is fewer hours, less driving and less wear.

It is almost always easier to raise the price than to find a third more customers.
